Celestix Environmental Compliance

Last revised: 22 February 2010

Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive ("WEEE")

Celestix Networks  provides recycling support for our equipment to comply with WEEE. We have established recycling partnerships with designated third parties and Celestix channel partners that allow customers/end users to send their products to designated locations in their country for pickup. Celestix will arrange for the pick up and transportation to a certified recycling location for recycling in an environmentally responsible manner as required by WEEE.

Celestix products put into the European Union market after 13 August 2005, are marked with the WEEE symbol and include the symbol in their documentation. The symbol is a crossed-out wheeled waste bin with a bar underneath.

Producer registration activities are in progress or planned in countries within the European Union where registration is required and available. Regulations related to reuse and recycling program are evolving in each market we serve. As new information becomes available, this compliance statement will be modified.

Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Eqiupment ("RoHS")

The European Union has enacted a directive effective July 1, 2006 entitled Restriction of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Eqiupment ("RoHS"). This directive restricts the use of certain materials that are commonly found in electronic products. RoHS prohibits the sale into the European Union of electronic equipment containing certain amounts of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chronmium, polybrominated byphenyls and polybrominated diphenylethers. RoHS applies to all electrical and electronic equipment with some exemptions. Specific exemptions apply to certain product types where appropriate alternative materials do not currently exist.

Celestix is working with its component suppliers and contract manufacturers to eliminate all chemicals classified as hazardous and to reduce our usage of other material below the levels required by RoHS.

Regulations associated with RoHS compliance are evolving and specific requirements are in a state on continued refinement. RoHS allows for a lead-in-solder exemption and Celestix products qualify for that exemption as defined in the annex section of the directive. As the regulations evolve, this compliance statement will be modified to reflect the most complete up-to-date information on the state of our RoHS activities.
