What is V-OS Cloud?

V-Key MFA utilizes V-OS, a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution. Integrated with the most up-to-date versions of V-Key’s Software Suite, V-OS Cloud allows banks, payment gateways, and government agencies to access and utilize V-Key’s solutions, including mobile identity, authentication, and authorization, without incurring extra costs for mobile app and server setup, operation, and maintenance. Can I install V-OS Cloud on enterprise’s on-premise environment?

Yes, V-OS Cloud provides gateway connectors that can be installed and deployed in the enterprise’s internal network that can be connected to V-OS Cloud to provide solutions in both hybrid or single-point mode.

What is 2FA service?

V-OS Cloud 2FA service is a built-in two-factor authentication service that enables enterprises to protect their internal services like VPN and Office 365 easily.

Which directories are supported by V-OS Cloud?

V-OS Cloud supports V-Key LDAP, Azure AD (AAD), local AD, OpenLDAP, and other directory services that support LDAP protocol. If you use AAD, you must activate AAD Domain Name Services (AAD DNS) to be supported by V-OS Cloud. See priceand details of enabling and configuring AAD DNS in your AAD tenant from Microsoft.

Do I have to set up and maintain my own directory service?

No, if you don’t have a directory service currently in place, you can use the V-Key LDAP (DAAS, directory-as-a-service) directory service that has already been preconfigured to work with V-OS Cloud seamlessly.

Do I have to expose my directory access externally?

Yes, you have to expose your directory access for external LDAP queries from V-OS Cloud IDM. If you do not wish to expose your directory publicly, you can configure your firewall settings to whitelist only the V-OS Cloud IP address while continue blocking traffics from the public.

Which RADIUS solutions are supported by V-OS Cloud?

We support all RADIUS authentication.

Can I setup V-OS Cloud 2FA for my VPN access if I don’t have a fixed IP for my VPN server?

Yes, if your VPN service does not have a fixed IP, you can request a static IP dedicated to your VPN service from V-OS Cloud (additional charges may apply) that will work with V-OS Cloud IDM.

Can I use external identity, such as Azure Active Directory, Amazon IAM for authenticating users with V-OS Cloud?

Yes, V-OS Cloud supports connections with LDAP, RADIUS, and SAML2.0 authentication.

What is Token Pack?

The token pack is a unique profile used by V-OS Cloud IDM to identify organizations and environments that V-OS Cloud connecting to. It is based on the connectors and services you configured through V-OS Cloud Dashboard.

What is a token pack QR code? And how to use it?

The token pack is presented in a form of a QR code and keeps information like ID, name, logo, theme, and configuration information that help the V-Key app identifies the organization that the app users belong to while onboarding to V-OS Cloud services. This code is generated from V-OS Cloud Dashboard and sent to app users for service onboarding. This code is necessary for app users to activate account. To use the QR code, app users use the V-Key app (available in app stores) to scan this code to activate his/her account.

Can I upgrade my subscription from the Free plan to the Professional plan without re-configuration?

Yes, you can upgrade your Free plan to the Professional plan any time through the Dashboard. All configurations will remain and be upgraded according to the plan that you have upgraded to.

Can I change the email of my account in V-OS Cloud Dashboard?

Yes, you can. Go to Profile in the Dashboard and then change your email.

Can I bypass 2FA for specified users?

Yes, V-OS Cloud Dashboard lets you add app users to the list where 2FA is bypassed. Users do not need to do 2nd factor authentication during login. Go to Accounts for more settings.

Can I reset services for users through V-OS Cloud Dashboard?

Yes, you can manage services for each app user, or group of app users through V-OS Cloud Dashboard. Go to App Users for more settings.

Can I add/remove networks as trusted networks?

Yes, you can add your networks (IP addresses) as trusted networks and enable automatic account activation if the network that your mobile device connected to is in the trusted network list. You can add trusted networks in the Token Packs configuration section. Go to Token Packs and select TRUSTED NETWORKS to configure.

Can I enable/disable services for app users through V-OS Cloud Dashboard?

Yes, you can manage services for each app user, or group of app users through V-OS Cloud Dashboard. Go to App Users and Services for more settings.

Can I create more accounts in V-OS Cloud Dashboard?

Yes, V-OS Cloud Dashboard allows the accounts with Superadmin role to create and manage accounts in the Dashboard. Go to Accounts for more settings.

Can I request a new role with specific permissions?

Yes, V-OS Cloud Dashboard allows you to create and manage roles for easy permissions management for accounts. Go to Accounts for more settings.

Does V-OS Cloud support different directories for different services?

Yes, V-OS Cloud Dashboard allows you to create connectors for directories, RADIUS, and SAML2.0. You can create and configure different connectors for different services and token packs.

How can I create a new token pack?

You cannot create token packs directly. The token pack is available on a per subscription basis. Whenever you have subscribed to a new subscription, a new token pack is created for the subscription.

How to install V-Key app?

The v-key app is published on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. You can download the V-Key app free of charge. Select the applicable link or scan the QR code to start the installation:

How to activate your account on V-Key app?

After installing the V-Key app, you need to activate your account on the app. Follow the steps for activation:

  1. Install the V-Key app on your mobile device if you have not done so.
  2. Request for the token pack QR code from your system admin.
  3. Use the V-Key app to scan the token pack QR code.
  4. Login with your account credentials.
  5. If the network that your mobile device connected to is registered as a trusted network by your organization, the app token activation will be done automatically after you have logged in to your account. Otherwise, you need to have the app token QR code sent to your email and use the V-Key app to scan the QR code for manual activation.

Contact your system admin if you encounter errors during the activation.

How can I change the PIN in V-Key app?

Note: The change PIN functionality is only available after you have activated 2FA. The same PIN is shared among all accounts that you have in the V-Key app.

To change the PIN, do the following steps:

  1. Launch the V-Key app.
  2. Tap on the gear icon at the upper-right corner of the screen.
  3. Under the Settings section, tap on Change PIN.
  4. Input Old PINNew PIN, and Confirm PIN.
  5. Select Update to apply the changes.

How can I change the verification method to iOS TouchID verification?

Note: This is only applicable to iOS models with the TouchID feature. You need to set up your TouchID before you can use this feature in the V-Key app.

To activate TouchID on the V-Key app, do this: open the V-Key app -> select the gear icon in the upper-right corner -> tap on the Enable Face radio button -> follow the steps prompted to complete the process.

How can I change the verification method to iOS FaceID verification?

Note: This is only applicable to iOS models with the FaceID feature. You need to set up your FaceID before you can use this feature in the V-Key app.

To activate FaceID on the V-Key app, do this: open the V-Key app -> select the gear icon in the upper-right corner -> tap on the Enable Face radio button -> follow the steps prompted to complete the process.

How can I change the verification method to PIN verification?

To activate PIN on the V-Key app, do this: open the V-Key app -> select the gear icon in the upper-right corner -> tap on the Enable PIN radio button -> follow the steps prompted to complete the process.

When should I reset app token?

You should reset your app token on the old device if you want to activate your account on a new device.

What will happen if I reset the app token?

The V-OS Cloud server backend will clear your current app token to make sure that you can activate your account on other devices.

Why do I get so many notifications?

For some VPN services, the VPN client may try to reconnect upon connection termination due to poor network quality or prolonged inactivity. Each reconnection, you would receive an authentication request. To avoid receiving too many unnecessary notifications, make sure that you disconnect your VPN client when it is not in use.

Which mobile OS versions are V-Key app supported?

The v-key app supports Android version 5.0 and above, iOS version 9.0 and above.

What should I do when I change my device?

Before changing your device, you should deregister your account in the current device before installing and activating your account on the new device. In the unlikely event that your device is damaged or lost and you did not get to deregister your account beforehand, you can contact your system admin to reset your account from V-OS Cloud Dashboard, then activate your accounts again on a new device.

What should I do when I forgot the PIN?

In that case, you should contact your system admin to reset your account from V-OS Cloud Dashboard. After your account is reset, you can activate your account again and set a new PIN.

Why can’t I receive the 2nd QR code for activation?

You may have provided a wrong email, or the QR code email is in your spam folder. If you do not see the QR code email in your spam folder, redo the activation steps and make sure that you have input a correct email address. You can also ask your system admin to resent the app token QR code email to your email address.

Why can’t I receive the push notification for 2FA requests?

There are some cases that you cannot receive push notifications for authentication. The followings are some steps you can do to check:

  • Make sure that your mobile device is connected to a network
  • Go to Settings on your mobile device and check if push notification permission is granted for the V-Key app. If not, grant the V-Key app the push notification permission.
  • If you are a system admin:
    • Make sure that the respective service is active
    • Make sure that the token pack that the V-Key app user use has the respective service enabled
    • Look for the user in the App Users section of V-OS Cloud Dashboard and confirm that the token status is ACTIVE
  • If you are a V-Key app user:
    • Confirm that the list of services is active from the V-Key app’s main screen. Active service will have a green dot at the upper-left of the respective service

Can I use different PINs for different token packs?

No, although V-OS Cloud supports multi-accounts, for convenience sake, V-OS Cloud supports only one PIN for all accounts. You set a PIN for the first account, then use the same PIN to add more accounts or during authentication.

Can I change the theme of the V-Key app?

Yes, you can customize themes for the V-Key app and assign the customized theme to a token pack. Users with the token pack will have the assigned theme activated on the V-Key app. The theming feature is only available to paid subscriptions only.

Can I change the messages/texts/images on the V-Key app?

Yes, you can customize the messages, texts, and images on the V-Key app through the theme section in V-OS Cloud Portal. The theming feature is only available to paid subscriptions only.
